Did you recently file an initial application for a work permit? Or is your work permit pending? If you filed a form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, on or after September 27, 2023, or your work permit application was pending after September 27, 2023, your work permit may have a validity of five years! It depends on the category.
The categories included are:
- Refugees (A03)
- Noncitizens paroled as refugees (A04) (up to 5 years not to exceed length of parole)
- Asylees (Asylum granted) (A05)
- Recipients of withholding of removal (A10)
- Applicants for asylum or withholding of removal (Asylum Pending) (C08)
- Applicants for adjustment of status (residency) (C09)
- Applicants for cancellation of removal (the “ten year law” (C10)
